This is our van ‘Spike’. We’ve had her for ten years and there are 178700 motorway miles on the clock. There are a few rust spots and the odd dent (see photos below) but it is in exceptional condition for it’s age. The only reason she is for sale is because the London Low Emissions Regulations come into effect January 2012. It has taken us four months and a lot of money to find a replacement and we are going to be very sad to say goodbye. We’d really like her to go to a good home, ideally another band (outside of London) or perhaps a family or festival camper, or someone who loves these old Mazda's as much as we do.

She has an MOT to 23rd of August 2012 and a full service history for the last ten years.

The engine was rebuild at about 70000 miles and several years ago we spent £2000 on the bodywork. The tyres are virtually new and a full exhaust system and two new batteries were fitted just last year.

She has a payload of 1375Kg which is higher than most comparable vans and the load space is longer.

It comes with a £400 Category 1 Cobra alarm and immobiliser that has been serviced every year. It has Thatcham approved high security deadlocks on all doors fitted by the manufacturer Locks4Vans at a cost of over £600. It also has a steering lock and a wheel clamp. A bit obsessive perhaps but then again, can you be too careful with vintage gear?

There are two extra seats with seatbelts in the back and a plywood bulkhead behind them.  The seats were brand new when we bought them and there is an unused matching bench seat thrown in if you wanted to use her as a minibus.

The back door is brilliant for loading gear in the rain and it comes with three sets of keys and three alarm fobs. There is also a radio/cassette with Sony speakers and a twirly ventilation top hat that is great for dogs, kids and acoustic guitars.

Spike's demensions mean she fits most council parking permit restrictions unlike other vans and is very easy to drive on city streets. She's great on the motorway, but dont expect speed going up hills if she fully loaded. It's an ideal bandwagon since that is what it has been for ten years but the possibilities are endless.

We’ve tried to show everything we can in the photos below.
